Turtles Can't Run

  Woah, this was an eventful month for IDW Sonic. We got more teases for the upcoming Scrapnik Island mini series and 2 new comics in a single month! You don't see that all that often nowadays. But without further ado, let's talk about both of these. ANNUAL 2022 Annual 2022 was so amazing. Before this, we were basically stuck with the main story for almost a year. Not to say it was bad but that meant that characters that wasn't a part of said story were not used, like at all. The annual comic finally gives us a glimpse of nearly all the unutilized characters from the past year. Let's start with the Blaze storyline. This story was very good. I love that Marine the Racoon was seemlessly readded to the Sonic universe with this. And it turns out I'm not the minority in this either. I missed this pirate freak a lot. I wish we get to see more adventures in Blaze's Dimension just for her alone. And my favourite part... Blaze and Knuckles interacting with each other. Li...

  Yeah what a bold title to start, eh? Simply put, this second half ruined the magic of the show for me in a lot of ways. I will start from the beginning, aka the episode they escape from the prison. It only takes them one episode to get out of it. And they make a joke about it in one of the later episodes which just removes a lot of tension from the prison in general. That alone gave me a not so good first impression.  But before I continue with the negative stuff, I would like to actually mention a few things I liked. The animation is just as, if not better than the first half which I thought was great already. Secondly, the way they actually incorporated the bosses in this batch of episodes was stronger here than in the first half. Baroness Von Bon Bon, Werner Werman etc. My favourite was the episode where they connected Brineybeard and Cala Maria into one episode that I don't want to spoil a lot cuz it's legitimately a good episode. Veterans of the franchise know that 2 very wildly different sonic comics with their own plots and characters were a thing in the 90's. IDW in contrast is still kinda new. It has recently reached it's 50th issue and after this frankly embarressing video I edited a long time ago, I wanted to talk about once again. For starters, IDW takes place right after Sonic Forces, the newest modern Sonic game at the time of the book's release. But then it starts a new canon seperate from the games.
