THE CHAOS DETOUR PART 1
A couple of days had passed since the trio of G, Array and PotaTeo started travelling all around Perdiah! Their goal was to help possible survivors from Maizie’s wrath! And their first destination was none other than Town Bloom!
* sweats *
Oh man…
(worried) What's up Array?
* smirks *
The clouds.
* frowns *
(sarcastically) Ha ha, very funny.
Array chuckled and gave PotaTeo a high five.
Real talk though, we’ve been walking around for a while now.
* stretches his back *
You think we should rest for the day?
Hm...
* pulls out the map *
While that sounds nice... we are almost there!
Sigh… okay then.
* looks at PotaTeo *
Don’t forget that we should look for a radio once we reach there!
Oh, yeah, don’t worry.
The moment we get our hands on one, we can let our folks know what’s up.
* looks at Array *
Don’t do the bit.
* chuckles *
Okay, okay!
* hits a pebble away *
How do you think they are gonna react to us going on this... detour?
I’m… not sure actually.
I just hope Artender won’t be mad about the Teo situation.
Knowing the guy, he probably is.
Sssh… don’t jinx it.
* giggles *
Alright, alright.
* stretches his arms behind his head *
It’s been a while since I talked to any of them, I wonder how they are gonna react to seeing me with you guys...
I’m positive they will be happy to know that you are okay.
* chuckles *
Not as much as me though, that’s for sure!

PotaTeo rolled his eyes. He just wanted them to get it over with. Weirdly enough, PotaTeo saw something with the cornet of his eye. It was... a hoverbike with three people riding on it. He cleared his eyes and looked in that direction again but it was... gone. He was confused but ultimately shrugged it off, thinking it was just his imagination.
After walking for a few more minutes (with the two still flirting with each other), PotaTeo noticed the town ahead of them. He lightly hit Array’s hand and pointed at the town.
OW!
What was that for, Teo?!
* looks where PotaTeo was pointing at *
Oh...
This... this can’t be!
The two were expecting crystal knights hunting down the remaing survivors but instead, what they saw was something far worse.
This once peaceful town resort filled with flowers was now getting raided by hooded figures all led by a figure both G and Array never wanted to see again.
Loot ‘em all up, boys!
You gotta do what it takes to survive in the apocalypse!
The trio hide behind a nearby tree and continue watching the hoodster army steal from the innocent townsfolk.
* whispers *
What the heck is he doing here?!
I thought he would have been crystallized by now!
* sighs *
No such luck.
We need to rid them away from the town!
Before things get worse, right?
Ayy, you read my mind!
G knew he had to think fast. He couldn’t just let the hoodsters go with the town’s stuff, not on his watch.
So G, what are we going to do?
I’m thinking about it...
The two continued brainstorming. This was more frustrating than I imagined, Array thought to himself. But suddenly, a lightbulb appeared above his head (metaphorically speaking).
I just got an idea but promise me that you won’t freak out, okay?
O-Okay?
Very well.
Before G realized what was going on, Array suddenly ran towards the town and shouted;
HEY, SURVEY!
RECOGNIZE ME?!
What the-
Survey looked around himself all confused. He recognized that voice anywhere.
It’s you again!
You bet!
From all the stress, G followed Array from behind.
WHAT ON PERDIAH DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?!
I was going to buy you two sometime, you dum dum!
That’s not-
* turns red from embarrassment *
…oh.
Oh, of course.
Wouldn’t have one without the other, would we?
* whispers *
Uhm, sir?

I’m in the middle of something here!

We have been raiding these towns left and right to survive since the “Crystal Queen” started poisoning our world.
This planet should only be ruled by brute strength!
And that’s what Hood and Xtress provide-
We just asked what you were doing here, we didn’t ask for a dang autobiography!

* points at the two *
Enough playing nice... FIRE!
The two split up and tried leading the hoodsters away from the town. Survey ordered most of his hoodsters to chase after G while he personally went after Array himself. After all, Survey still had personal beef with him.
Hey, you there!
EEP!
You are coming with me!
O-okay!
It’s time to show that fool not to threaten Mike Survey ever again!
Yeah!!
Follow after the green man, you jerks!
Meanwhile, a bunch of hoodsters were chasing after G. He pulled out his hammer and spinned it around to block all the bullets. It was refreshing to go after laser guns rather than the usual crystal magicks. While running, G noticed an innocent kid looking at him behind a resort.
One second, fellas.
G hit the ground with his hammer and then pulled it towards himself while it was stuck on the ground, causing a small rock wall to emerge.
Now that’s what I’m talking about.
G made a run for it to talk with the kid still watching him.
Hey there, kid!
* points at the forest ahead *
Get your folks out of town and wait for us there!
We are here to help!
O-okay!
Thank you.
* notices the wall slowly getting destroyed *
Now, go!
I will distract them!
G blocked all the bullets coming towards the kid and started going on the offensive. These hoodsters were pushovers compared to the crystal knights.
HAH!
You guys are soooo outdated!
Are you all still wearing those dinky hoods?
Right as he mocked the hoodsters, someone managed to get in a lucky shot on G’s left shoulder which made him lose his confidence.
ACK!
G felt like the whole world was spinning around him. He was getting weaker by the second. He thought he wouldn’t have to deal with this feeling again after he made peace with his inner self.
With all of his remaining strength, G hit the ground with his hammer to make them fall to the ground. Before they could get up, G climbed up the nearest tree and made a whirlwind with his hammer. The hoodsters weren’t prepared for an attack like this as they all flew somewhere far away. G tried catching his breath after the fact. This was tougher than he expected. But suddenly, he realized something. Sure, he captured a bunch of hoodsters but where was their leader... G’s eyes suddenly widened.
ARRAY!
* dodges the bullets *
GAH!
You have nowhere to run, little boy.
Meanwhile, Array was trying to distract Survey and a few hoodsters he brought with him. He was using his gauntlet to throw them off their game but Survey seemed prepared for his tricks this time.
Try that again, I dare you!
As a latch ditch effort, Array tried punching Survey on the face before Survey kicked Array’s arm with his feet.
ACK!
* holding his arm *
Y-you-
Does that bring back memories?
Why are you so fixated on me?!
I didn’t do anything to you!
“I didn’t do anything to you.”, he says.
You took down a lot of my precious hoodsters that night, Array.
With your death, I will honor the ones who have fallen for our cause!
So dramatic...

Your friends didn’t seem to like that, no?

It seems to me that they only forgave you out of pity.

Array tried to punch Survey as a response but fell back on his knees.
ACK!

You are trying to put things in my head again...

* puts his finger on Array’s chin *
Does it really matter?
No response from Array.
That’s more like it.
Usually, I would have just killed you right here and there.

I’m in a fiendish mood today!
Survey orders his hoodsters to give him a spare sword. He wanted to enjoy this moment.
Any last words?
Suddenly, Array started smiling. He just got a brilliant idea.
Say, you interested in taking down the Crystal Queen?
...what.
Me and my friends have been looking for a way to stop her for a while now.
* points at his backpack *
We got the plans for it inside my backpack!
Hm...
Sir, this is obviously a trick!
Don’t fall for it!
I would appreciate it if you kept quiet, gentlemen.
Sorry.
That way, you can be known as both the fearless hoodster leader AND the man who took down the Crystal Queen!
* chuckles *

Survey grabs the backpack and looks inside it. There was nothing but a potato there.
What is this nonsense?!
There is just a potato inside!
That’s the ONE potato you don’t want to mess with!
Suddenly, the potato jumped out of the backpack and grabbed Survey on the face.
ACK!
WHAT IS GOING ON?!
Survey was trying to get rid of PotaTeo but he couldn’t see anywhere.
LET ME GO!
* points somewhere randomly *
MEN, GET THIS POTATO OFF OF ME!
The hoodsters all tried to catch PotaTeo but he was too fast for them. When PotaTeo realized there was nowhere else to go, he punched Survey in the face and then landed next to Array. He was overjoyed.
ACK!
WOO!
You go, little guy!
I told you that trick would come in handy!
N-Nonsense!
* holding his face *
You just had the element of surprise! That’s all!
* picks up the sword *
Even though you have… whatever this potato thing is, with you, we will still slay both of you in cold blood!
Oh, I wouldn’t be so sure of that!
Suddenly, PotaTeo started growing in size. While Survey was stunned from shock, the hoodsters next to him all dropped their weapons and ran off to the forest in fear.
What are you doing, you fools?!
Get back here!
Survey quickly looked around and saw only one hoodster remaining next to him, with a sword at hand.
I-I’m here, sir!
(Sigh.)
PotaTeo slapped Survey and the other hoodster away with his hand as they landed in the middle of the very town they were trying to rob.

* holds his arm in pain *
ACK!
PotaTeo looked at his friend and got worried. He shrunk back in size to help out his friend. He took a peek inside the bag and took out a bandage to heal Array again. Coincidentally, G also arrived to help his “friend”.
Array, are you okay?!
* holds Array’s hand *
I-I’m so sorry!
I should have been here for you-
Don’t worry about me please.
* coughs *
Me and Teo took down those guys easy peasy!
But it wasn’t worth your arm getting hurt!
G sat down on his knees and helped PotaTeo with the bandages.
T-thank you…
* blushes *
I appreciate your concern G but I will be fine.

Now, we gotta get these people to safety before Survey or the crystal knights come!

Array noticed G looking unsure. Something didn’t feel right.

He had it coming for a long time.

The trio looked behind them and saw Survey with all of his hoodsters behind him. They recruited so fast.
I-I-
You thought you could stop the last of the hoodsters that easily?!
We robbed other places way before this wretched town and we found some of THESE bad boys!
Survey reached out to his pocket and showed them an empty potion bottle.
I-Is that-
A potion?
It sure is.
Talk about being lucky, eh?
* chuckles *
Now not even your potato friend can save you now!
HALT!
Suddenly much to everyone’s shock, a third faction entered the battlefield. A crystal knight group led by none other than... Lydia?!
Oh, it’s one of those crystal freaks!
They are called Crystal Knights.
DON’T YOU CORRECT ME!
What are they doing here...
They are here to crystallize the town, stupid!
* looks at G *
I have no idea how you can love someone so stupid!
W-wait, what do you mean by that-
Surrender now!
Or we will...
* scratches her head *
Um...
Lydia looks at the crystal knight behind her .
Did I say that right?
Was my tone intimidating?
I would say it was good enough.
Oh okay then!
* coughs *
Well then... everyone, crystallize the-
* notices something *
Wait a second…
Lydia points at G which really confused him.
The queen was looking for you!
* points at G *
Everyone, capture the green person and crystallize the rest!
(Or something like that…)
HEY, YOU THERE!
STOP THIS INSTANT!
Lydia saw Survey pointing at her and raised her eyebrow.
This is MY domain, you crystal hacks!
You can’t just push me aside like this!
And so, Town Bloom became more of a battlefield than an actual resort. There were three factions now instead of two. The hero trio, Survey’s hoodsters and of course, crystal knights led by Lydia! There were bullets, crystal beams and magical artifacts flying all around the place. At this rate, there wouldn’t be any traces of the town left!
G, get over here!
G was so deep in his thoughts that he didn’t realize he was a complete sitting duck in the middle of the battlefield. He followed Array’s voice and then saw him and PotaTeo talking.
Sorry, potato man.
I can’t risk you getting crystallized.
* picks up his backpack *
Please get inside.
PotaTeo reluctantly got inside the backpack again with a sad look on his face.
Array?
G, what were you doing over there?!
S-sorry!
I was just stuck in my thoughts!
Okay, okay...
* takes deep breaths *
Deep breaths...
* looks at the fight that was going on *
There’s not going to be a town to save if they keep going like this!
We need to do something!
What can we even do?!
The two of us can’t defeat two whole armies!
...what if we only had to defeat one?

* scratches his head *
I don’t think either side would want to team up with us, dude.
I’m very aware of that, G.
But you just gotta trust me!
Like I trusted you on your plan earlier?!

YOU ALMOST GOT YOURSELF KILLED!

* takes a deep breath *
I was afraid I would lose you again.

The two kept quiet. They both felt awful about the situation.

I know my plans are the “head first, think later” type but you gotta trust me on this one!
It’s worth a shot!

* holds his hand *

* summons his hammer *
I want in on the plan!

Array gazes at the blonde crystal knight leader. He hoped this would pay off.
Guys, can we focus on finding the green man, please?!
The crystal knights were too busy crystalizing the hoodsters to listen to her commands.
Guyssssss!
Pleaseeeeee!
Lydia sighed. This leadership thing was harder than she thought.
I guess we can catch them once everyone else is crystallized…
Suddenly, the guy with blue hair tried attacking Lydia head on. Lydia hopped back at the last second.
EEK!
Surrender yourselves to us hoodsters, crystal freak!
Or you will face our wrath!
Very well…
If only, I didn’t have-
* reaches out to her pocket *
THIS!
Lydia pulled out her crystal gun in a rush but she accidentally dropped it just as quickly. Before she could take it back, Survey crushed it with his foot.
* chuckles *
What were you going to say again?
...phooey.
Lydia tried taking the gun off of Survey’s hand but was met with him tripping her down to the ground.
OOF!
* holding her head *
I told the queen I wanted to bring my axe but she said it wasn’t “practical”.
Ugh!
Stupid gun, stupid army-
YOU FINISHED?!
Lydia notices him holding a gun towards her and she raises her arms in shame.
See, was that so hard?!

Now you are gonna tell your army to stand down or you are going to have this bullet inside your head-
* gets hit by Array on the chest *
ACK!

* helps her get up *

* looks around while holding his chest *

The crystal knights all looked at Lydia and noticed her standing next to Array. Confused, they all arrive behind Lydia alongside the newly recruited crystal knights.
Crystallize this blue guy and his friends first!
But ma’am, what about the other two?
We can crystallize them later!
They surrendered!
They are gonna help us take these meanie heads down until then!
(Well, I guess this is the end.)
Survey watched in horror as Lydia and her group crystallized each and every single one of his hoodsters besides a few standing next to him.
You… you won’t get away with this, Array!
* orders his remaining hoodsters to retreat *
Mark my words, I will destroy everything you love one day!
Array looked at the fleeting hoodster army in sadness. Because even though he was no longer a hoodster, he knew people like Survey would never let him forget about his past.
Yay! We did it!
* does a quick tip tap dance *
High five?
Array doesn’t say a word and lightly hits her head with his gauntlet as response. She becomes unconscious that very moment.
The crystal knights surrounded Array the second their leader went down. Before they could crystallize him, they heard the sounds of a thousand footsteps. First there was shock and then, there was fear. The crystal knights didn’t know where these sounds were coming from. But they didn’t have to wait long to find out.
As they looked behind them, they saw the townsfolk running towards them to protect their town, all led by G himself. Taking advantage of this, Array knocked back the crystal knights surrounding him with an earthquake attack and jumped inside the crowd to help with the resistance.
Great timing, G!
Psstt… yeah!
You said it!
* hits a nearby crystal knights with his hammer *
It helped that none of the townsfolk were crystallized before we arrived!
Yup!
What happened to the blonde lady?
Did you take her out like we planned?
Well yeah but I felt kinda… bad?
* hits another crystal knight *
I don’t know how to describe it.
Yeah, I know the feeling.
* holds Array’s shoulder to comfort him *
We are all helping them this way, trust me.
I know...
It still feels a bit wrong though...
The two smiled at each other for comfort and continued beating up the crystal knights. Soon, the crystal knights were all knocked unconscious with just a few townsfolk turning into crystal knights themselves.
Thanks for helping me convince your folks, little guy.
Don’t mention it, mister!
And thanks to all of you for fighting back so bravely!
Everyone cheered for G, Array and PotaTeo. Even though everyone was confused about his existence, they congratulated him nonetheless.

Those mean jerks destroyed our homes!
The kid points at what remained of the place they once called home. G definitely understood their pain.
Hm… any of you have a map of Perdiah?

The old man gave G the map as he started circling a specific area on the map. G looked around for a place where he could make an announcement anyone could hear. He noticed a podium in the middle of the town. It was damaged obviously but it also looked like it was used by someone else recently.
* coughs *
Listen up everyone!
We have an underground resistance called Vengeful Rubies located under Town Mercia!
* points at the unconscious crystal knights *
Take these crystal knights with you as well!
They are innocent folks like you despite them being brainwashed by Maizie.
Once you reach there, I’m sure our friends will give you a place to stay!
Everyone was skeptical but also were aware that this was their only option.
Oh and one last thing!
You guys got a spare radio?
Sorry, youngster.
We don’t have such things around these parts.
* sighs *
We appreciate it nonetheless, mister.
The three waved goodbye at the townsfolk as they left to join the Vengeful Rubies. As the trio watched the townsfolk leave the remains of Town Bloom, Array looked at G with a grin on his face.
Man, since when did you get so good at public speech?
Eh… I guess it is related to that temple business.
I don’t really think about that anymore.
Hm... that’s good.
Well… what are we waiting for?
Let’s get to our next destination!
Woah, this soon?
Yup!
Isn’t it so exhilarating?!
In a way… yeah!

I’m sure it will be fun!
PotaTeo seemed much more excited compared to last time. G thought he was getting used to the groove of things too.
* picks up the map *
Our next big stop... Town Downer!
Town Downer?
But that’s in the middle of the freaking desert!
Well... yeah!
That means the crystal knights might have not reached there yet.
Ooh!
Clever!
Yup...
* looks at his friends *
Well then... let’s do it you guys!
And so, the trio were on their way to Town Downer!
W- wait, I just realized something.
Huh? What happened?
You know about that blonde girl?
Yeah?
What about her?
While she was fighting with Survey...
Couldn’t she have just blocked the laser with the giant crystal on her head-
Sssh… I don’t think she realized that.
